Why Use Mouthguards?

We can’t stress enough the importance of protecting your teeth, particularly in contact sports such as hockey. By partnering with Pro-Form, we can offer custom-fitted mouthguards that not only better protect you from impact but also stop you from clenching – and hurting – your teeth! This way, your body won’t push your brain to release hormones that can negatively impact performance. In short, athletic mouthwear can actually help you perform at your peak – without hurting your teeth! Many professional athletes such as weightlifters, soccer and golf stars, baseball champions, and more swear by custom-fitted mouthguards to stay safe and play their best game.

The Fitting Process

Our team will work closely with you to ensure the athletic mouthwear you select achieves a perfect, protective fit. We start by making an exact impression of your top and bottom teeth, followed by a bite impression for optimal results and wearing comfort. We then send off the impressions for the mouthwear to be made, which will arrive in our Carleton Place office within 10 days or so. We’ll then make sure that the fit is precise and sufficiently protects all of your teeth.

Durable and Dependable

These are no ordinary mouthguards; they’ve been specially engineered to last through plenty of heavy use, constructed from highly durable materials. A single athletic mouthguard from Costello Family Dentistry can last the entire season, ensuring you can stay at the top of your game without worrying about bruxism or unintended damage. If you’re a habitual chewer, however, be aware that you may need to replace yours earlier than intended.

Also, did we mention that they come in a bunch of fun colours and custom appearances?

Who are Mouthguards for?

Our Pro-Form mouthwear is an ideal choice for most athletes over the age of 8 years old. However, there are restrictions that you should be aware of. For instance, should you have braces, it’s better to discuss other options with us. The same applies to those with joint pain or who are missing molars due to the specific design of the mouthguards we offer; alternative solutions can be found by arranging a consultation.

Cleaning Tips

Your athletic mouthwear is easy to clean and keep looking its best! In fact, you can even use traditional dental cleaning products to take care of it. For further details and other care tips, our team is happy to provide you with instructions detailing the best cleaning practices.
